Day out at the World Museum in Liverpool

Wonderful day out!

Well what a fantastic time we had at the World Museum. A number of people in the group hadn’t visited the Museum for a while, so they were keen to go again and enjoy the various galleries within it’s walls. The morning started off in the natural History gallery, so much to see and enjoy and so many of the people in the group who loved to share their interest with each other. We had our lunch in the picnic area which we reserved before our visit. After lunch we took a trip through the ancient world and enjoyed the exhibits from different cultures from around our world. We had organised a private visit to  “Meet me at the Museum” located in the Community Base area, a fantastic journey through the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s, with artefacts from the various era’s including a beach scene, complete with deckchairs and sand, a parlour set up for tea complete with biscuits, a punch and judy show, newsreels showing the Queen’s coronation and numerous amounts of books and magazines from the era’s. The event was hosted by staff from the Museum who interacted with the group and talked about days gone past in Liverpool. After leaving the Community Base we had pre arranged tickets for a trip to the Planetarium, a place I had not been to for a number of years, it was an incredible show and we all learned a little more about the stars we see every day in the night sky.

We all really enjoyed our day at the World Museum and we are grateful to the all the staff who made us all feel so welcome and who helped to make it such a fun day out. Our next day out by popular demand, will be the Museum of Liverpool Life, so watch this space for the date, everyone is welcome.
