Day out at Liverpool Museum of Life

Wonderful day out enjoyed by all !

On Wednesday, we did not have our usual meeting at Linksview, instead we went to the Museum of Liverpool Life at the Pier Head. We departed from Linksview with a full minibus, of people, packed lunches, fun and laughter. After arriving at the Museum, we were met by Sophia, a wonderful member of the Museum team who we have met before on previous visits. Sophia took the group on a “Memory Walk” through the Museum, stopping at various areas in the Museum,  talking about the exhibits, listening and sharing with each other memories from their past. The memories which were shared and to hear about each others lives was really interesting. Sophia ended the tour at the Overhead Railway carriage where we were treated to a talk by Jack, about the history of the Overhead Railway and the Liverpool docks.

After lunch, the group split up for some free time in the Museum and a number of us headed to the exhibition on the ground floor, the story of Liverpool Docks, Tate and Lyle and numerous other pieces of Liverpool History to talk about together and share memories of days gone by. We also went to see the film show about the Beatles and their music, which was highly entertaining and got people’s feet tapping!

All in all, a wonderful day out again to one of the amazing Museums we have in Liverpool, we are so lucky to have them in our city and I know that our group will visit them again in the near future. We are now planning next months trip out, we have some ideas, so watch this space for updates!
